The Faculty of History at the University of Oxford has set up a doctoral studentship for students interested in completing a DPhil on the subject of the history of Middle Eastern Christianity from 1500 to 1900. The project is part of a Leverhulme-funded doctoral centre called ‘Publication beyond Print’, which explores scribal culture and other aspects of the history of communication across time and space. General details about the Leverhulme scheme can be found here:

https://www.humanities.ox.ac.uk/publication-beyond-print-leverhulme-doctoral-centre

This specific studentship is for research linked to the subject of ‘Colophons, Community, and the Making of the Christian Middle East, 1500-1900’ (for full details, see https://www.humanities.ox.ac.uk/colophons-community-and-making-christian-middle-east-1500-1900). The funding will allow a student to complete their DPhil in the History Faculty at Oxford. The scholarship will cover course fees and provide a living allowance, and students should apply via the standard application for a DPhil in History.

The deadline for the application is 10 January 2020.
